Pearl (Koerner) HughesStillwater, MNPearl (Koerner) Hughes died peacefully on October 8, 2017 at the Good Samaritan Society Nursing Homein Stillwater, MN. Pearl was born on June 30, 1917 in Watertown, WI to Theodore and Elsie (Warnes) Koerner. She married Cecil Hughes in April 1947 in Baltimore, MD. She is survived by her children Dennis (Rebecca) Hughes of Evansville, WI and Janice (Paul) Huffman of Woodbury, MN; by her five grandchildren and by six great-grandchildren, her sister Marian Carlson, 9 nephews and 13 nieces. She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband of 54 years, her brother Ted Koerner, and her sister Dorothy Will. Pearl served in the Women's Army Auxiliary Corps during and following World War II and was a life member of the American Legion Auxiliary.Visitation Saturday, October 21, 2017 from 12:30 - 1:30 pm in the chapel of the The McDougald Funeral Home. Burial and Military Honors will follow in Forest Lawn Memorial Park.In lieu of flowers, the family asks that memorial donations be made to any benevolent organization that serves the needs of US military active duty service members or veterans and their families. Pearl's family is eternally grateful for the compassionate care and support that she received from the staff at Oak Meadows of Oakdale and Good Samaritan Society of Stillwater.America has lost yet another veteran of World War Two.
