KENDALLVILLE — Peggy J. Heffner, 78, of Kendallville and formerly of Kimmell, passed away on Tuesday, June 17, 2014, at home. She was born on September 13, 1935, in Nappannee, Ind., to John and Matilda (Carl) Robinson. She married Ron Heffner on June 8, 1953, at her parent's home in Kimmell, Ind. She is survived by her husband, Ron, of Kendallville;, and 2 sons, Tony (Teresa) Heffner of Kimmell, and Nick (Roberta) Heffner of Sylvan Lake. Five grandchildren survive: Troy (Fawn), Teren, Tanner, Lucas, Reghan Heffner; as well as 6 great-grandchildren: Dailon, Kaden, Bailey, Brody, Elly and Kohen. A sister, Mary (Karl) Gorsuch, of Kimmell survives. Peggy was preceded in death by her parents; a brother, John Robinson Jr.; and a sister, Opal Schmidt. She graduated from Cromwell High School in 1953, and she was active in the Cromwell Alumni Association. Peggy retired from ThermoGas in Kimmell after 30 years. She was a member of the Kimmell Mother's Club, the Kimmell United Methodist Church and, most recently, attended Wayne Center Methodist Church. She enjoyed mushroom hunting, gardening, cooking and spending time with her grandchildren. She could always be counted on to take care of others. A memorial service in her honor will be at 6 p.m. Friday June 20, 2014 at Yeager Funeral Home, 1589 Lincolnway South, Ligonier. Friends may visit with the family from 2-6 at the funeral home on Friday. Memorial contributions may be given to the Humane Society of Noble County.
