Penny Carter, Goshen, age 66, passed away Friday, October 21, 2024, at Parkview Regional Medical Center in Fort Wayne. She was born on September 23, 1957, in Detroit, Michigan and was married to Dallas Damron on October 4, 1975.

Penny is survived by her loving husband, Dallas Carter, of Middlebury, her daughter, Melissa Marie (Carlos) Chavarria, of Goshen, and her son, Dallas Ray (Brittany) Damron II, of Middlebury. She was a grandmother to 6 grandchildren, Daniel Sandoval, Luis Sandoval, Dallas Michael Damron III, Kynlee Damron, Jovani Chavarria and Malia Chavarria. Penny is also survived by her 5 sisters, Carolyn Aduins, Delphia Reynolds, Lily (Carl) Smith, Dialene (Bill) Irlan, and April (Jose) Salas, and her brother Roger Ratliff.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Woodrow Ratliff and Martha (Sexton) Ratliff, her daughter, Misty Ann Damron, and her siblings, Richard “Buddy” Ratliff, Vernon J. Ratliff, Sharon Douglas, Sandra Rome, and Janice Colbreth.

Penny worked as a factory worker, where she found fulfillment in cleaning. She cherished spending time with her grandchildren, indulging in activities such as playing cornhole, dancing, playing Yahtzee, camping, and traveling.

Her visitation will be 10 a.m. to 12 p.m. Tuesday, November 5, 2024, with a funeral service to follow at 12 p.m., all at Rieth Rohrer Ehret Funeral Home, 311 S. Main St., Goshen, Indiana 46526. Burial will take place at a later date at Oakridge Cemetery.
