DOVER - Perry Lynn Bratcher passed away at Christiana Hospital on Dec. 3, 2016. Perry was born on Feb. 1, 1961 in Auburn, Neb. to Vol Rayburn Bratcher and Mary Louise Bratcher. Immediately after his graduation from high school, Perry enlisted in the United States Air Force and served honorably for 26 years as an Air Transportation Craftsman. He was a highly skilled joint inspector, hazardous materials inspector, and airdrop rigger. While assigned in mobile aerial ports, Perry was deployed on numerous occasions in support of major conflicts, including Desert Storm, Desert Shield, Operations Enduring Freedom and Iraqi Freedom. He was stationed in Japan, England, Korea, North Carolina, New Jersey and Delaware. After his retirement and following his passion for air transportation, Perry worked as a civilian supervisor for 10 years in the aerial port at Dover Air Force Base. He was a mentor and friend to those that he worked with throughout his career. He was actively involved in the community as a Den Leader for the Cub Scouts, Scout Master for the Boy Scouts, as well as volunteer with the Wesley United Methodist Church in Dover, to which he was a member. Perry was an avid motorcycle enthusiast, a member of the Patriot Guard, and was actively involved in supporting veterans of the U.S. military. He was artistic and excelled at building models, drawing, and airbrushing. Perry also enjoyed baking and cooking. Perry is survived by his sons, Koji Bratcher and his wife, Susan, and grandson, Roland, of Pasadena, CA, Will and Kenji Bratcher both of Newark, DE, and Andy Bratcher of Dover, DE; his companion, Kim Utley, of Dover, DE; and countless friends. Memorial services will be held at 11 AM on Monday, December 12, 2016, at Wesley United Methodist Church, located at 209 S. State Street, Dover, DE. Interment will be at the Delaware Veterans Memorial Cemetery in Bear, DE at 2 PM. In lieu of flowers, the family requests contributions be made to the PTSD Foundation of America at www.ptsdusa.org.
