Vanden Heuvel, PetPet M. Vanden Heuvel, age 82, passed away early November 8, 2016 at St. Elizabeth Hospital, surrounded by her loving family. She was born on August 8, 1934 in Appleton to the late Simon and Clara (Mullen) Van Gorp. On January 27, 1955 she married John Vanden Heuvel; he preceded her in death on July 10, 1975. Pet raised her seven children then worked at Flanagan's Stop and Shop and Trim B's for many years, and was a volunteer for St. Joseph's food pantry. She was a Girl Scout Troop leader, a Cub Scout Pack leader and a Cheerleader Advisor for St. Thomas More School. She really enjoyed spending time with her family, camping, watching birds and tending to her flower gardens.She is survived by her children; Faith Ann (Jimmii) Givings, Jeanne Burren, Steve (JoAnne) Vanden Heuvel, Dan (Nancy) Vanden Heuvel, Simone (Todd Booth) Vanden Heuvel, Annette Vanden Heuvel, Michele (Brian Zabel) Vanden Heuvel, Gary (Lin) Vanden Heuvel and Kris (Kurt) Roeker, her grandchildren; Marguerite, Theo and John Givings, Danelle Burren, Paige (Jon) Wurzer, Michael Burren, Kelsey and Allison Vanden Heuvel, Dan and Mike Vanden Heuvel, Gabrielle (Joe) Eck, Laura, Matthew and Steven Okray, John Holtz, Christie (Mike) Blum, David (Ria) Vanden Heuvel, Renee (Greg) Brown, Andy (Laura) Roeker and T.J. (Ali) Roeker. Pet is further survived by 19 great grandchildren, favorite sister, Catherine Meixl, sisters in law; Janie Havinga and June Domer as well as many nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.Preceding her in death are her parents, her husband, John, grandson, Anthony Givings, Bob Mertins and son in law, Glenn Burren. She is also preceded in death by her brothers; Romie Van Gorp and Gene (Edna) Van Gorp, and her sisters; Dorothy (Bill) Kiley, Marguerite Van Gorp, Sally (Bud) Pendergast, Betty (Jack) Bradley and little Catherine Van Gorp, brothers in law, Ben Meixl, Henry Havinga and Orv Domer.Funeral services for Pet will be held at 1:00pm, Friday, November 11, 2016 at Valley Funeral Home, 2211 N Richmond St, Appleton, with Fr. Gerald Falk officiating. Visitation will be held at the funeral home from 11:00am until 1:00pm. Burial will take place in St. Mary's Cemetery, Appleton.The family wishes to extend a special thank you to Kelly Walters, Amy Hussin and Mary Kay Fulcer and Pet's friends at Lynndale Village, especially, Barb, Judy and Elma.
