Pete G. Bustos, a lifelong resident of Las Vegas, passed away peacefully on Friday evening, June 14, 2013. Pete was born on Aug. 1, 1928 to Margarito Bustos and Lugardita Martinez Bustos. He was a loving and generous husband, father, grandfather, great grandfather and friend. Pete and Eloisa were married on Aug. 19, 1957 at Our Lady of Sorrows Church, and they enjoyed their time together, especially in their retirement years. They enjoyed eating out, traveling and spending time with their family and friends. Pete was a long time grocer, spending 38 years at Columbia Supermarket, a humble man and loving counsel to all who were a part of his life. He was a member of the Immaculate Conception Parish Council, an Extraordinary Eucharistic Minister, and a long time member of the
Elks Lodge No. 408. He was also president of the JayCees and on the board of directors of the Chamber of Commerce and First Federal Savings & Loan Association. Pete was a lifelong Catholic and a member of Immaculate Conception Church in Las Vegas. Pete was preceded in death by wife, Eloisa, who died on July 13, 2012; his parents; his sister, Bessie Montoya and her husband, Conrado Montoya; and brothers, Arturo D. Bustos and Eloy J. Bustos.Pete is survived by son, Ralph Bustos and his wife Priscilla and their family, Natasha Martinez-Padilla, her husband, Eric and their children, Christian, Romulus and Cameron of Las Vegas, and Alicia Martinez and boyfriend Nick Romero of Albuquerque; daughter, Ruth Bustos Lopez and her husband, Maurice and their children, David Lopez and Isabela Lopez of Albuquerque; and son, Donald Bustos of Houston, Texas. He is also survived by his sister, Confe Bustos; nephews, Robert Montoya and wife Marie of Santa Fe, Arthur Montoya and wife Anita of Albuquerque, Patricia Martinez and husband Danny of Raton, and Phyllis Martinez of Las Vegas, Nev., as well as 10 great-nephews and four great-nieces, and other relatives and friends.A rosary will be held at 7 p.m. Tuesday at Immaculate Conception Church. Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m. Wednesday with Father George V. Salazar as celebrant. Cremation will take place following the funeral mass and Pete will be laid to rest at the Gate of Heaven Mausoleum in Albuquerque at a later date. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Building Fund at either Immaculate Conception Church, 811 Sixth Street, Las Vegas, N.M. 87701, or to Our Lady of Sorrows Church, 403 Valencia Street, Las Vegas, N.M. 87701.A visitation will be held from 1 to 5 p.m. Tuesday at Rogers Mortuary Chapel.Visit Rogers Mortuary's website:
