Martell, Peter A.Peter A. Martell, 60, Wausau, passed away unexpectedly from cardiac arrest at his daughter's home in Amherst Junction on Wednesday, February 8, 2017. Peter was born on August 29, 1956, in Wausau, to the late Rita (Pigeon) and Norman Martell. He was a 1975 graduate of Wausau East High School. In June of 1979, he married Linda Geier at St. Anne's Catholic Church, Wausau. Peter had a love and passion for working with motors and enjoyed the challenge of rebuilding and reconditioning engines of all kinds. His many years of work at West Side Battery and Wausau Engines were especially satisfying. He was the co-owner of Wausau Engines from 2001-2006, but had to retire early while rehabilitating from the serious consequences of brain tumor surgery in 2005. Peter had a keen interest in motorcycles and especially enjoyed riding cross country with his friends. He also liked "other people's junk" and spent a lot of time looking for unique antiques at auctions, estate and garage sales. Fishing trips with his brothers, cribbage, painting acrylic landscapes, and enduring the ups and downs of the Packers were among some of his other interests. Always willing to help family and friends, Peter could be counted on for his dry walling expertise and other construction skills. Perhaps his greatest joy, however, came from the quality time spent with his daughter, son-in-law, and two wonderful grandchildren.Survivors include his daughter, Tiffany (Austin) Everson, Amherst Junction; grandchildren, Makayla and AJ Everson, Amherst Junction; sisters, Mary Walters, Sacramento, CA., Rita (Steve) Kerswill, Weston, and Angel Reynolds (fiance Mitch Simmons), Wausau; sister-in-law Susan Martell (Phil) Luce (Wausau), brothers, Paul (Cindy) Martell, Wausau, Jude (Sue) Martell, Schofield, and Jim (Linda) Martell, Chippewa Falls; former wife Linda Pease, Lodi, and many nieces, nephews, and friends.Besides his parents, Rita and Norman Martell, Peter was preceded in death by his brother, Joseph Martell, and brother-in-law, Richard Walters.A celebration of Peter's life will take place on Friday, February 17, 2017, at 11:00 a.m. at The Church of the Resurrection of Our Lord Jesus Christ, Wausau. Visitation will be held on Thursday, February 16, from 4:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. at Brainard Funeral Home in Wausau and on Friday at the church from 10:00 a.m. until the time of service.
