LANCASTER Peter D. Alexopoulos, 91, passed away on December 7, 2014 at Manor Care Health Service of Lancaster. Pete was born on December 19, 1922 in Kalidona, Greece to Dimitrios and Sophia (Tzaros) Alexopoulos. He was the oldest of their three sons and immigrated to the United States in 1956. Pete worked at the Famous Hot Wiener in Hanover for over 50 years and will be remembered as "Uncle Pete", one of the familiar faces behind the counter. He was a member of the Greek Orthodox Church of the Annunciation in York. Pete was also a member of AHEPA and served in the Greek army. Pete is survived by his wife, Maria (Karageorge) Alexopoulos; his daughter and her husband, Sophie and Jim Beaumariage, Franklin, Mass.; his son and his wife, Jim and Maria Alexopoulos, Lancaster; seven grandchildren, Niki and her husband, Jason Pinckney, Peter Alexopoulos, Alexandra Beaumariage, Manoli Alexopoulos, Tommy Alexopoulos, Jennifer and her husband, Kris Lutz, Stephanie and her husband, Nick Picca; and one great-granddaughter, Lilyana Picca. Pete also leaves behind an abundance of extended family both in the United States and in Greece, who will be among those that cherish his life and his memory. Funeral services will be held Saturday, December 13, 2014 at 11 a.m. at the Greek Orthodox Church of the Annunciation, 2500 Pine Grove Rd, York, with the Rev. Father Andrew N. Tsikitas officiating. Burial will be in Mount Rose Cemetery, 1502 Mount Rose Ave, York. A viewing will be held Saturday from 10 to 11 a.m. at the church.
