Peter Edward Van HarenMay 31st,1937 -March 6th, 2016Pete Van Haren (78),beloved husband, father, grandfather, brother,uncle and friend, peacefully passed away on Sunday, March 6, 2016, surrounded by his loved ones in the comfort of his home.Pete was born on May 31, 1937 in Florence, AZ. He was the second child and only son of the late Peter and Conception Van Haren. He was a cowboy at heart and enjoyed growing up in Florence, AZ with his three sisters. He graduated from Florence High School in 1956 and shortly after joined the
Army National Guard, serving as a reservist for six years.He moved to Yuma, AZ in 1959, where he became a lifelong resident. In 1961 he graduated from Barber school and stayed true to the profession for the remainder of his life, serving the Yuma community for over 50 years. He married his wife, Erma on October 10, 1968 and together, throughout their 47 years of marriage, joyfully raised their children, niece and many grandchildren.He leaves to cherish his memory, his wife, Erma Van Haren; his son, Rick Van Haren (Julie Van Haren); his daughter, Gerrie Fahay (Danny Fahay); his niece, Debbie Hogan (Joe Hogan); and his three sisters, Sylvia Dugan, Virginia Parks and Elizabeth Myers, as well as many grandchildren, great-grandchildren, relatives and countless friends. He was preceded in death by his son, Peter Van Haren, Jr. and daughter, Lynda Bennett.Memorial services will be held on Saturday, March 12, 2016 at 10:00a at World Harvest Church of Yuma, 350 E 18th Street. Burial services will be held immediately after the memorial, at Desert Lawn Memorial, 1415 S 1st Avenue. Relatives and friends are welcome at the services and the reception following.
