It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Peter H. Bennies on March 27, 2025, in Hardy, Virginia. Peter was born on December 26, 1958 in Dumont, NJ to Hubert Bennies and Ilse Nytra (nee Kunhenn).
Peter is survived by his beloved spouse, Mary Ellen Bennies (nee Szeliga), whom he married in 1982. Together, they have one son, Christopher P Bennies of Forest, Virginia. Peter is also survived by his mother, Ilse Nytra of Toms River, NJ, his brother and sister-in-law Gerard & Sheri Nytra of Midland Park, NJ as well as his brother-in-law, Fred Szeliga of Lynchburg, VA. After serving in the US Navy, Peter worked in the Construction Industry for many years. Later in life, he became an Entrepreneur owning an Automotive franchise in North Carolina and a Self Storage Facility in Myrtle Beach, SC. He retired in 2018.
Peter's passions included collecting and working on cars. He was always motivated to fix something. He loved to work with his hands and to be outdoors. He was known for his dedication to his family and friends, always willing to lend a helping hand.
Peter's presence will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved him. May he rest in peace and be surrounded in God's eternal love.
