TIPP CITY — Philip D. Welbaum, age 90, of Tipp City passed away on Friday, Dec. 9, 2016, at his residence. He was born on December 9, 1926, in Troy to the late Hobart and Marguerite (Dye) Welbaum.
He is survived by his wife of 66 years: Vivian M. (Frantom) Welbaum; children: Terry Snook; Daniel (Carolyn) Welbaum; Guy Welbaum and Lisa (Mike) Oldham all of Troy; eight grandchildren; ten great-grandchildren; brothers: Gilbert Welbaum and Gary (Inez) Welbaum both of Troy; sister: Janet Jo Thompson of NC and brother-in-law: Herbert Wintrow of Troy.
In addition to his parents, Philip was preceded in death by siblings: Kenneth Welbaum, Deanna Tamerman, Fred Welbaum, Roger Welbaum, Jean Waldheim, Nancy Wintrow and Gordon Welbaum.
Philip served his country in the US Army during WWII. He was a longtime farmer and retired 46 years of service with AO Smith Company. Philip was a 1950 graduate of Hobart ARC Welding School. He enjoyed fishing, bowling and golfing. He was a true family man and loved his family deeply.
A Memorial Service will be held at 2 p.m. on Friday, Dec. 16 at the Baird Funeral Home, Troy. The family will receive friends prior to the service from 1-2 p.m. at the funeral home.
