XENIA — Philip "Larry" L. Harner, 72, Sturgis, died Saturday, December 6, 2014, at Sturgis Regional Hospital, after a brief, courageous battle with bone cancer. Funeral services will be held at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday, December 9, 2014, at Kinkade Funeral Chapel. Visitation will be held from 12 p.m. until time of service. Larry was born on March 6, 1942, to Jacob and Louise (Waddell) Harns. He moved to South Dakota in the early '70's and married Sheri (Buchheim) Lukes on June 5, 1977. He worked for Homestake Gold Mine in Lead for over 25 years until his retirement. He moved to Sturgis and lived there for over 37 years. Larry was a good man, a hard worker and a care taker. Larry is survived by his wife, Sheri, Sturgis; children, Tammy Lukes (Mark Bauman) , Humbolt, SD, Mark Lukes, North Bend, WA, Penny Harner, Friday Harbor, WA, Jake Harner and Jeffrey Harner, Virginia; granddaughter, Harley Bauman, Sturgis; sister, Marlise (Ron) Vaughn, Gahana, OH; sister-in-laws, Opal Uthe, Colton, SD, and Kay Buchheim, Sioux Falls, SD; and numerous nieces and nephews.
