Philip J. Brantner, age 71 of Pepin, died Saturday March 9th 2019 unexpectedly in his home.
Phillip was born on July 5th 1947 at home in the Town of Lima, rural Durand. He was the son of George and Hannah (Berger) Brantner, he grew up in the Lima, Durand and Ella areas. After school he farmed with his Dad for several years. Philip served in the U.S. Navy for two years, serving in Okinawa, Japan, Hong Kong and Korea before being Honorably Discharged. He married Alice Hedberg of Pepin on May 20 1967 at St. Josephs in Arkansaw. After marriage they lived around the Pepin, Nelson and Plum City areas all their life. Philip worked at Schurth’s Manufacturing in Pepin, Valley Craft in Lake City, MN and Meyers in Hager City for years as a welder. He retired from there in 1998.
Philip enjoyed hunting and fishing. He also liked to go camping by Potato Lake and Chetek. Philip was always tinkering around the house fixing it up and doing small welding projects for neighbors. Most of all, He loved spending time with family and friends.
Philip is survived by his , two sons; Kevin of Pepin and Gregory (Brenda) of Hager City, five grandchildren; Kyle (Kaylee) Brantner, Kayla (Kaleb) Bray, Tyler, Travis and Toby Brantner, five great grandchildren, nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. He is preceded in death by his parents, wife (Alice of 55 years) six sisters; Margaret Davis, Frances Smith, Doris Sanders, Beatrice Anderson, Margie Kuehl and Rose Stewart and six brothers; Robert, Fred, Paul, Gale, and George.
Funeral Services will be held Friday March 15th at the Lima church, visitation will be from 9am to 11am before the funeral
