Philip L. ScrudatoAGE: 82 • LakewoodPhilip Louis Scrudato passed away on the evening of December 27, 2016 of natural causes at the age of 82. Phil was born on December 29, 1933. He and older brother Joseph were sons of Nancy and Frank Scrudato.Phil attended Pingry high school where he excelled at academics and sports including football and track. Today, 63 years later, Phil's school record in the broad jump of 21 ft 2.5 inches still remains unbeaten. Phil completed one year at Hobart College before joining the
U.S. Marine Corps in 1954 and was honorably discharged in 1962 having attained the rank of Corporal. Phil married Susan Nowinski in 1969 and had two children. Phil and Susan lived a life full of love, laughter and friendship for 47 years. Phil spent most of his career as an owner and operator of restaurants, however most recently he worked as a Range Master where he combined his love of target shooting with his passion for helping others. Phil was an active member of the fraternal order of Freemasons since 1985 and later became a Shriner. He was also an active member of his community including serving on the Lions Head Woods board and leveraging his love of photography as the community photographer. Phil is survived by his loving wife Susan, older brother Joseph, his two children Frank and Tiffany, and his daughter and son in-laws, Lori and John. Phil also leaves behind his beloved grandchildren Jake, Ethan, Lily, Nolan, Owen and Sam. A viewing for Phil will be held on Saturday, December 31, beginning at 10am followed by a service at 12:30pm at the Silverton Memorial Funeral Home located at 2482 Church Rd, Toms River, NJ.In lieu of flowers, the family requests a donation be made to the (
