PHILLIP F. GREENSeptember 23, 1955 - November 14, 2016Dallas - Phillip Freeman Green, our beloved son, husband, father, brother, grandfather, and friend, passed away unexpectedly while snorkeling and spearfishing on a family vacation in Hawaii, island of Maui, on Monday, November 14, 2016.Phil was born on September 23, 1955 in Albany, Georgia to Phillip Ralph Green and Eva LaRae Ellett Green. As the son of an Air Force officer, Phil lived in a number of different places, including Wyoming, Alabama, Japan, Virginia, Utah, England, and Germany. He married Vonja Swenson Green in the Salt Lake City Temple on August 22, 1981. After obtaining an undergraduate degree in accounting and a master of accountancy degree with an emphasis in taxation, both from Brigham Young University, Provo, Utah, Phil began his lifelong career as a CPA, later adding wealth advisory services to his practice. Phil worked with firms in Salt Lake City, Utah, Southern California, and Salem, Oregon before founding Green Newton Jamison LLP and Green Wealth Management, LLC in Salem, Oregon.Phil loved his Heavenly Father and Savior, Jesus Christ, and served them throughout his life. He was an active member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and served as a missionary in the Tulsa, Oklahoma Mission and Independence, Missouri Mission (1974-1976). Phil served in many Church callings, including Bishop, Portland temple worker, and assistant area auditor. He loved spiritual discussions and regularly shared his knowledge of Jesus Christ with others in word and deed.Music was a lifelong passion of Phil's. He played the guitar and ukulele and sang in numerous choirs and ensembles over the years, most recently with the Portland Choir & Orchestra. He loved swimming, snorkeling, and spending time with family.Phil is survived by his wife, Vonja; mother, LaRae; children and their spouses: Freeman (Stephanie), Rachel (Steven), Matthew (Adri), Angela, Benjamin (Chantelle), Kerry Anne, Natalie, Jesse; siblings and spouses: Michael (Lecia), Darryl (Yuko), Richard (Joanie); Sharon (Hal); and 14 grandchildren.He was preceded in death by his father, Phil; twin sisters LaRae and RaVae; and granddaughter, Zoey.Funeral services will be held at the LDS Chapel located on the southeast corner of Doaks Ferry Rd and Eola Dr in West Salem (3154 Eola Dr NW, Salem, OR 97304) on Saturday, November 26 at 10:00am. Friends may call at the Dallas Mortuary Tribute Center (287 SW Washington St, Dallas, OR 97338), on Friday from 6:00pm to 8:00pm and from 8:30am to 9:30am at the place of service.
