This Announcement Comes With Great Pain & Sorrow

Phyllis Anne (Flint) Beverage, age 87, of Fort Pierce, FL, formerly of Boca Raton, FL, died of natural causes on Monday, April 27th, 2019 at Cornerstone hospice in Clermont FL, surrounded by her loving family.

Phyllis was born on December 8th 1931, in Covington, VA to the late Jerome Wayne & Virginia Rea Flint and graduated from Covington High School with the class of 1950. Known for her love of basketball & cheerleading, these activities lent to her vibrant personality and the lack of almost never turning down a social opportunity. In all her Bobby Sock fashion she would become a lifelong fan of big band music as well as live theater & the cinema.

After leaving her collegiate career (Radford University, VA) behind and taking a switch board operator position at the Greenbriar Resort, WV, she would soon meet the love of her life and start a family. Phyllis wed Charles Cable Beverage JR. on February 5th, 1955. Their marriage would bring three children and usher in her new life as a homemaker. Later she would become a founding member of “The Metropolitan Professional Golfers Wives Association” of New York.

1976 brought pain & sorrow when the death of her husband left her a widow. Collecting herself and summoning all her strength & courage she attained her cosmetology license and in 1980 opened her own salon, in Boca Raton, redefining her life.

A skillful bridge player and gifted with an artistic flare, she enjoyed many crafts, including; oil & water color painting, mosaic art, rug hooking, interior design, quilting and cooking.

A devoted Christian throughout her life and known for her cheerful nature, vibrant smile and dynamic personality, she always put family, god, country & friends first.

Surviving are daughters, Brenna Gay Beverage of Sebastian, FL & Christy Lynn (Beverage) deVries of Clermont, FL; son Charles Flint Beverage of NYC, NY; Grandaughter Ashley Anne DeVries  of Clermont, FL.

A celebration of Phyllis Anne’s life and memorial service will be held on Friday, September 20 th, 2019 at 1 pm at the Healing Springs Baptist Church, 4697 Sam Snead Hwy, Hot Springs, VA 24445

Dear Flint and family, I am so sorry to hear about your moms passing. Your mom was such a wonderful person and I know she is missed by all who had the privilege to know her. She was always so happy to see you when you stopped or walked past her and I know my mother always enjoyed visiting with her. We were so blessed to have such wonderful mothers in our lives. I wish I could be there to celebrate her life with you I know it will be a very special time. I pray you feel God’s comfort in this time of grief. Take care Mary Carlucci
