LENTINI, PHYLLIS BARONE Phyllis Barone Lentini, 95, of Middletown passed away surrounded by her loving family and friends on Monday, November 7, 2016. She was born on October 23, 1921 to the late Louis and Rose (Fazzino) Barone. She has lived in Middletown her entire life, formerly of St. John Street and more recently with all of her good friends at Heritage Commons on 38 Boston Road. Phyllis was a lifelong homemaker - a fantastic cook who loved to entertain all her family and friends, regaling them with her famous jokes and keeping everyone around her smiling. Phyllis was predeceased by her beloved husband of more than 70 years, Francis Lentini, a daughter, Linda Lentini Collins, and a son, Thomas Lentini. She leaves behind her son, Francis and his wife, Michele, of Middletown, a daughter-in-law, Ruth Lentini of Vero Beach, Florida and five grandchildren: Amanda and Ian Collins, Alexis Russillo, and Matthew and Michael Lentini. She also leaves behind her beloved brother, Salvatore Barone of Middletown and several nieces, nephews and their families. Phyllis was also predeceased by one brother, Louis Barone, and two sisters, Mary Scirpo and Rose Carta. Phyllis and Frank were always very active members of St. John Church in Middletown. Phyllis was a Eucharistic minister and spent many hours involved in various volunteer duties. Her Catholic faith and deep love of God were very important to her. They were great landlords to many lucky tenants in their St. John Street property who were often treated to home cooked meals and special treats from Phyllis. Phyllis was well known throughout the family for her excellent cooking and baking skills; she was always willing to share her special tips and techniques. She spent her last few years as a resident of the wonderful Heritage Commons community and made a lasting impression on all the staff members. She had many special friends amongst the residents, especially Louise Francesco. The family would like to extend our sincere thanks to the wonderful staff at Middlesex Memorial Hospital, especially the loving and devoted caregivers of the Hospice Center. Funeral services will be held Monday, November 14th at 11:00 a.m. at St. John Church in Middletown followed by a mass of Christian Burial at the Veteran’s Cemetery in Middletown. Family and friends may call at D’Angelo’s Funeral Home, 22 South Main Street, Middletown, on Sunday, November 13th from 3-5 p.m. In lieu of flowers, donations in Phyllis’s name can be made to the St. John Church Renovation Fund.
