ALBION — Phyllis Ruth (McComb) Brown, 95, of Albion died on Sunday, June 5, 2016, at Elkhart General Hospital. She was born on Sept. 9, 1920, in Allen County to the late Verne and Cecile (Fitch) McComb. She married Francis Brown on Aug. 12, 1939, in Huntertown. He preceded her in death in January of 1991. She was a homemaker and taught many in the area how to play piano. She was a member of Asbury United Methodist Church, where she was the pianist and organist. Phyllis was very active in the Order of the Eastern Star, belonging to the Prentiss Chapter, and was the past Grand Representative and past Grand Organist to the Indiana Grand Chapter, O.E.S. She also served as president of Noble County Foundations, and the Albion Rotary accompanist. She is survived by sons, Ormin (Sherry) Brown of San Antonio, Texas, Trumin (Debbie) Brown of Gulf Breeze, Florida, and Darrell Brown of Elkhart; daughters, Annetta (Mikel) Ropp of Elkhart and Angela Brown of Kansas City, Kansas. Also surviving are sisters, Marscell Sloffer and Ann Kelham, both of Avilla, and Dorothy Lucas of Huntertown; daughter-in-law, Brenda Brown of Haverhill, New Hampshire; grandchildren, Amanda, Mikel, Jocelyn, Meghann, Shelley and Ryan; and great-grandchildren, Lucy, Ellie, Annie, Griffin, Owen, Clare, Charlie, Liam and Brooklyn. She was preceded in death by her son, Terrill; a sister, Marjorie; and brothers, Danford "Bud" McComb and Russell McComb. Funeral services will be at 2 p.m. Saturday, June 11, 2016, at Harper Funeral Homes, Albion Chapel, 771 Trail Ridge Road, Albion, with visitation one hour prior. Visitation also on Friday, June 10, 2016, from 4-8 p.m. at the funeral home, with Order of Eastern Star service at 7 p.m. Burial will be at Rose Hill Cemetery, Albion.
