She was born on March 16, 1948 in Des Moines, Iowa.Phyllis enjoyed going to the casino, watching stock car racing, and NASCAR. Above all, she cherished time spent with her family, especially her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She will be deeply missed by her family and friends.She is survived by her loving husband, Jack; children, Jack (Tina) Gilliam II and Larry (Teresa) Gilliam; grandchildren, Ashley, Austin, Niki, and JD; great-grandchildren, Vido, Hudson, Vini, and Sonny; brothers, Larry Freel and Jack (Tanna) Freel; and several nieces, nephews, and many friends.Phyllis was preceded in death by her parents, Richard and Helen Freel.Visitation will be held from 2 to 4 p.m., Sunday, July 23, 2017 at Hamilton's Funeral Home, 605 Lyon Street, Des Moines. Funeral service will begin at 1 p.m., Monday, July 24th, also at the funeral home followed by burial at Laurel Hill Cemetery.Memorial Contributions may be directed to Unity Point Hospice Home Care in loving memory of Phyllis.
