Phyllis Hilston-Wise Phyllis Marie Hilston-Wise passed away November 15th, 2016 at the Gardens of Western Reserve of Streetsboro.Phyllis was born on February 6, 1923 to Roy and Virginia (Fritz) Kresge in Cleveland.Phyllis fulfilled her childhood dream of becoming a nurse when she graduated from Glenville Hospital School of Nursing in Cleveland August of 1944. She worked as a private duty nurse. Phyllis was director of Nursing for many years, first in Aurora and later at Valley View Nursing Home in Akron. She ended her career in Pediatrics at Robinson Memorial.Phyllis was lucky to have found love twice in her lifetime. She first was married to Hubert G. Hilston for 35 years and then later married to C. Merrill Wise for 20 years.Phyllis was an active member of the Streetsboro United Methodist Church including its' Riverside Circle. She was an avid golfer and dedicated Cleveland Indians fan. She was also a member of Akron's Business and Professional Women and will most be remembered as a very enthusiastic Girl Scout leader in Streetsboro. Phyllis is survived by her son, Eric (Becky) Hilston of Streetsboro; daughter, Dawn (Jorge) Vallejos of Reynoldsburg; two stepdaughters, Barbara (Darren) Saylor and Virginia Wise; and grandchildren, Jena Hilston, Cristina (Chris) Sartain, Matt and Ben (Breianne) Saylor and Laura (Troy) Dunlap. Phyllis was preceded in death by her husbands; her parents; and her sister, Hester Wigington.Calling hours will be held 1 until 2 p.m. Monday, November 21st at Bissler & Sons Funeral Home in Kent, with a funeral service at 2 p.m. Interment will be at Standing Rock Cemetery in Kent. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Streetsboro United Methodist Church, 8940 State Rt. 43, Streetsboro, OH 44241.
