A Living Memorial

Plant a Tree to Honor your Loved One

How It Works

tree

Gift a Tree

Honor a loved one who has passed and gift a tree, or a grove of trees, as a living memorial.

We notify the community

Your contribution is shared publicly on your loved one's profile guest book and the profile owner is notified.

Your digital certificate

You automatically receive a digital certificate via email commemorating your generous gift (see example).

We organize planting

The planting location and tree species are determined based on where they will make the greatest impact. The type of tree chosen is based on which trees are indigenous to the planting area. This ensures that a healthy new tree is planted by our national forestry experts that will thrive for years to come.

What's Included

Benefits of Planting a Memorial Tree with Obituare

You're protecting the planet

Degraded land is restored, carbon is captured, biodiversity is improved and sustainable land use practices ensure our future. Our forestry partner is recognized as one of the best large-scale ecosystem restoration efforts on the planet. They have been granted a prestigious Flagship award as part of an effort by the UN Decade on Ecosystem Restoration to ensure that measurable progress is made on the UN's environmental goals by 2030.

You're ending hunger

The average forest garden is home to dozens of food crops, providing access to diverse, nutrient-rich meals year around.

You're ending poverty

Fruit and vegetable sales generate income. Farmers also start business selling seeds and seedlings, honey, soap, timber, and more.

You're empowering women

Farmer groups in our program are required to be composed of at least 30% women. Most exceed this benchmark, with many led or composed entirely of women farmers.
