A Life Well Lived: A True Patriarch~ A Man Well Loved

Prince Sanders,83, of Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, passed Wednesday, April 08, 2020. Prince was born to John Sanders, and Louise Sanders (Jenkins), August 13, 1936 in Sumter, South Carolina.

Prince graduated from Philadelphia Public School System. He married Shirley Mary Brown in 1956, and they lived together in South Philadelphia. Prince worked as a Farm Hand, Coal Miner, and Construction Laborer until he retired in 1986.

When Prince was about 2 years old, his parents relocated to Philadelphia, Pennsylvania.

As Prince became a teenager, about 15 years old, he desired a career in the military. But due to family matters, Prince was called back to South Carolina to work on the family farm. He spent about 4 years learning how to labor.

When he was about 19, He came back to Philadelphia, Pennsylvania to continue his education. Then, he found the love of his life Shirley Mary Brown, who became his wife on October 27th, 1956; 62 years of marriage.

Together they found a relationship with Jesus Christ. They became members at Bishop Robert Dawes Apostolic Ministry located at 16th and Fairmount Street. Their union brought forth six children-3 sons and 3 daughters.

He instilled the love of God in all their children, which flowed like honey down throughout the generations. This became evident in the lives of their children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren.

Prince was a loving and strong man, and worked very hard for his family before he retired in 1986. Later in his years he took ill, but everyday pushed and prayed for strength to make it through.

Prince was a fun man and he loved to play cards. He taught all his grandchildren, and great-grandchildren the settle art of defeating their opponet in Blackjack and Pitty Pat. This will be some of their most hilarious and cherished memories of him.

His love for Jesus was his legacy to his family. Even though he was not a soldier in the United States Army; He constantly confessed "Im A Soldier in the Army of the Lord".

~This soldier was called home. He fulfilled his duties. He endured hardness. He fought the good fight of faith. Prince will be greatly missed. ~
