Funeral services for R.W. "Weaver" McClure, 96, of Kress will be at 11 a.m. Friday, Dec. 2, at First United Methodist Church in Plainview with Pastor Mitch Wilson officiating. Burial will follow in Floyd County Memorial Park Cemetery under the direction of Bartley Funeral Home. A visitation will be held from 6 to 8 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home. Mr. McClure died Tuesday, Nov. 29, 2016, in Lubbock. He was born on Dec. 17, 1919, in Wise County, Texas, to Claude Jackson and Betty Weaver McClure. R.W. married Peggy Ann Trice on Dec. 27, 1946, in Big Spring, Texas. He was a farmer and was on the Swisher County Water District Board and the Edmonson Wheat Growers Board of Directors for 21 years. He was also a veteran of the 8th Army Air Corps. R.W. is survived by one daughter, Linet McClure and husband Gary of Cedar Park, Texas; three sons, Richard McClure and wife Kandi of Shallowater, Texas, Weaver McClure II and wife Jan of Denton, Texas and Jeff McClure and wife Yvette of Kress, Texas; six grandchildren, Shawn McClure, Melissa McClure Horst, Elizabeth McClure Jacobson, John McClure, Krystal McClure, Kacey McClure and was also blessed with seven great-grandchildren. He is preceded in death by his wife, three brothers and five sisters.
