Buman, RachelRachel Joy Buman (Genke) passed away unexpectedly at her home on Sunday, November 5, 2017 in Fremont, Wisconsin at the age of 68. She was born on October 3,1949 to Crystal Genke (Beirsdorf) and the late Roy Genke in New London, WI. Rachel was united in marriage to Dennis Buman on April 2, 1967. They raised three children together and celebrated 50 years of marriage this past spring. Rachel's greatest joy was spending time with her children, grandchildren and gardening. Everyone who knew Rachel, at some point, accompanied her on a stroll through her beautiful flower garden. She always had a fresh bouquet of colorful flowers on the kitchen table.Rachel was baptized and confirmed at Emanuel Lutheran Church in New London, WI. She attended Fox Valley Lutheran High School in Appleton, WI. She had a strong faith in God and was a Christian throughout her life. Rachel found great comfort in scripture and song. Here is a passage from one of her favorite hymns:"Just as I am, without one pleaBut that Thy blood was shed for meAnd that Thou bidst me come to TheeO Lamb of God, I come, I comeI come broken to be mendedI come wounded to be healedI come desperate to be rescuedI come empty to be filledI come guilty to be pardonedBy the blood of Christ the LambAnd I'm welcomed with open armsPraise God, just as I am"Rachel is survived by her husband Dennis; beloved children Laurie Buman, Jesse Buman and Ryan Buman; mother Crystal Genke; grandchildren Brooke Buman, Taylor Buman and Liam Shay; sisters Carol Davis (Genke) and Janeil Butt (Genke), and her brother Jerry Genke; brothers-in-law Roger Davis, Ronald Butt, Russell Buman and Stanley Buman; and sisters-in-law Louise Zastrow (Buman), Nancy Buman (Holtz) and Joan Buman (Stapel). She is further survived by many nieces, nephews, uncles, aunts and special loved ones who became part of the family, including Sally Brown and Carrie Hixson.Rachel was preceded in death by her father Roy Genke; brother James Genke; mother-in-law Velma Buman; father-in-law Louis Buman; brothers-in-law Harry VandenBusch, Richard Zastrow, Eugene Buman, Willie Piechocki, Jerome Buman and Donnie Buman; and sisters-in-law Donna VandenBusch (Buman), Barb Piechocki (Buman), Ann Buman (VanDeurzen) and Marilyn Buman (Kloehn).Rachel will be cremated and there will not be a public visitation or service.
