Raleigh E. Turk SILVER CITY, NM (Formerly of Racine) - Raleigh E. Turk, 82, passed away on February 4, 2013, in Silver City, New Mexico. He was born on May 24, 1930, to Brookie and Alma (Streeter) Turk in Buffalo, WY. He graduated from Buffalo High School in 1948, and served in the United States Army from 1949-1952. After his discharge from the Army, Raleigh attended Sheridan College in Sheridan, WY, where he met he future wife, Kathryn Walsh. He graduated from Montana State University in 1957 with a Bachelor of Science in Chemistry, and worked on his Master of Science degree until he was hired by S.C. Johnson in Racine, WI in 1959, where he worked until his retirement in 1992. He is survived by his wife of 57 years, Kathryn (Walsh) Turk, his children and children-in-law: Steven and Cynthia (Turk) Pogwizd of Birmingham, AL; Hal and Mary (Turk) Billings, Teresa Turk, and Edward Turk, all of Silver City, NM; and Daniel and Rebekah Turk of Racine, WI. He is also survived by his grandchildren, Leah Pogwizd of Seattle, WA, and Michael Pogwizd of Birmingham, AL; by his step-mother, Louise Turk of Kaycee, WY; and his siblings, Vivian (Turk) Long of Buffalo, Wyoming, and Brookie Turk of Washington State. Raleigh is preceded in death by his father, Brookie Turk. Per his wishes, there will be no public services. In lieu of flowers, please donate to your local Humane Society.
