OBITUARY
On Sunday, October 6, 2024, God sent an angel and quietly released from earthly toil, to heavenly reward, our beloved
RALPH AINSLEY JONES
Ralph was born in Brooklyn, New York on April 22, 1931. He was the fourth child of six children, born to Ethel and Herbert Jones who predeceased him. His parents migrated to the United States from the beautiful Island of Barbados, West Indies. Although they loved their adopted homeland, Ralph witnessed the pride that his parents had for Barbados and longed to go there one day, which he eventually did.
At an early age, Ralph had a strong sense of family ties. There were always aunts, uncles, cousins, godparents, grandchildren and a host of loving friends who frequented the Jones’ household. It was a place where everyone wanted to be. The laughter was infectious, the food made by Ethel was delectable and there was always a hymn or popular tune played on the Jones’ piano or organ, which took up most of the space in their small apartment in Brownsville.
Ralph attended Textile High School in Manhattan. His creative, artistic talent was well known throughout the neighborhood. Ralph could draw anything.
His favorite past time was fishing. He enjoyed many hours of fishing at the Canarsie Pier and off the shores of Long Island. Ironically, Ralph never liked eating fish.
At an early age, Ralph met and married Florence McFadden. Their daughter Constance Loretta (Connie) was the result of their union.
Throughout his illness, Ralph was lovingly cared for by his grandchildren Damian and Chenora and great grandchildren Elias and Ariana.
Ralph was preceded in death by his sisters Vera, Marlene (Thomas), his brothers Darnley, Alfred (Maxine) daughters Constance (Dexter), Linda, sons Mark, Darryl, nephews Lawrence, William (Ruth), Nathaniel, Chester, granddaughters Desiree, Starlette and brother in law Andrews.
He leaves to cherish his memory, his son Ralph Jr., daughters Desiree (Ronald), Diane, Rosemary, Lisa, grandsons Damian, Tabari, Julani, Hamadi, Coby, Curtis, Bashir, Cletus, Darryl, Glen, Hasaun and David; granddaughters Chenora, Hadiya, Monique, Domonique, Areal, Jaada, Cara; sister in law Anita; nephew Terrance; nieces Desiree, Cassandra, Ashley, Patricia, Janice and a host of great grandchildren, great-great grandchildren, nephews, nieces, cousins and friends.
Rest in Peace Ralph
We love you, but God loves you best.
Lovingly Submitted, The Family
