Ralph H. QuickNewtonRalph Henry Quick, 87, of Kellogg, passed away on Tuesday, March 14, 2017, at the Grinnell Regional Medical Center. A funeral service will be held at 10:30 a.m., Monday, March 20, 2017, at the Wallace Family Funeral Home and Crematory in Newton. The family will greet friends from 2-4 p.m., Sunday, March 19, at the funeral home. Memorials to St. Francis Manor may be left at the funeral home.Ralph, the son of Walter L. and Margaret Mae (Camerer) Quick, was born on February 25, 1930 in Melcher Dallas, Iowa. Ralph served in the United States Army during the Korean War. On September 5, 1954, Ralph was united in marriage to Florence Eileen McCormick in Melcher. Ralph worked as a mason and bricklayer prior to working at the Maytag Company and farming. He retired from Maytag in 1994 with over 28 years of service. Ralph loved being outdoors and farming; which included fishing, hunting, gardening, coffee with the guys at the local COOP, and he would always light up when the grandkids came around. Ralph was always a generous man and would give his shirt off his back to family and friends in need.Those left to honor his memory include his wife, Florence; son, David of Pensacola, Florida; four daughters, Diane Finch of Kellogg, Denise (Mike) Flanagan of Bondurant, Karen (Scott) Kottke of Ankeny, and Connie Hupp of Grinnell; 11 grandchildren, Eric, Matt, and Stacy Finch, Adam and Curtis Flanagan, Julia, Anthony, and Laura Kottke, and Jennifer and Brad Hupp; eight great-grandchildren, Trenton Finch, Ethan and Evan Finch, Emarie, Bella, and Ashtem Finch, Arlo Flanagan, and Xander Hupp; his siblings, Marianne Louise Smith of Baxter, Helen Hall of Melcher Dallas, Nellie (Darrell) Wertz of Kellogg, Ruth (Richard) Luett of Texas and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents; siblings, Virginia Grace, Norma Jean, Bernice, Lee, Donald, and Bill and a granddaughter, Shannon Lynn Kottke.
