LAGRANGE — Ralph V. Kehr, 87, of LaGrange, Indiana, died Tuesday, November 4, 2014, at his home. Mr. Kehr was born on June 1, 1927, in Goshen, Indiana, to Vernon and Pearl (Overholt) Kehr. He grew up in the Goshen and Foraker areas before moving to LaGrange in 1954. In 1949, he and his family started Kehr Iron Works, which he continued to operate with his partner, Ed Schrock, for 40 years. Mr. Kehr was United States
Army veteran having served in
World War II. He was a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church and LaGrange American Legion Post 215. On November 26, 1955, in Sturgis, Michigan, he married Mary M. Keller. she survives in LaGrange, Indiana. Also surviving are three daughters, Diane and Vince Matisko of Appleton, Wisconsin, Louise and Dale Smith of Houston, Texas, and Denise Kehr of Goshen, Indiana; four grandchildren and their spouses, Matt and Kim Matisko, Beth Matisko, Andy Matisko, and Melissa and Devin Carter; and a great-granddaughter, Amelia Carter. Preceding him in death were his parents and two brothers, Devon and Eugene Kehr. Visitation will take place today, Thursday, November 6, 2014, from 6-8 p.m. at Frurip-May Funeral Home in LaGrange, Indiana, with a rosary service to be held at 8 p.m. A funeral Mass will be held on Friday, November 7, 2014, at 10 a.m. at St. Joseph Catholic Church in LaGrange, Indiana, with Father J. Steele, CSC, officiating. Burial will follow at Greenwood Cemetery in LaGrange, Indiana, with military graveside services conducted by LaGrange American Legion Post 215.
