Ramon Anzaldua Jr., age 83, passed away peacefully on December 9th, 2016 in Deming , New Mexico. His services will be held at St. Ann Catholic Church in Deming on Friday morning, December 16th beginning with a viewing at 9 followed by a rosary at 10 o'clock. Mass of Christian Burial will begin at 11 o'clock with Fr. Ron Machado officiating. This will be followed by interment at Mountain View Cemetery. Ramon was born on January 12, 1933 in Waco, Texas to Ramon and Francisca Anzaldua. Ramon grew up in a farming family in Texas. In 1951, Ramon moved to Duncan, Arizona where fate would have him meet the love of his life, Porfiria Rios. They married on December 24th, 1951 in Lordsburg, New Mexico. They began their life together in Duncan where he was a cowboy and farmer eventually moving to Cotton City, New Mexico to continue working and raising their family. They spent his last working years and retirement in Deming. Ramon was an avid baseball player and fan. During his time in Cotton City, he got involved in coaching little league baseball in Cotton City and served as a coach and umpire for women's softball teams in Playas. He also enjoyed going to horse races and working on the ranch. Ramon is survived by his 7 children, Anita Aranda of Safford, AZ, Frank Anzaldua of Globe, AZ, Rosie Gomez of Deming, Fred Anzaldua of Deming, Bobbie Candelaria of Dexter, NM, Raymond Anzaldua of Morenci, AZ, and Porfiria Anzaldua of Morenci, 22 grandchildren, 62 great-grandchildren, and 3 great-great-grandchildren. Ramon was preceded in death by his wife Porfiria, daughter Angela Anzaldua of Morenci, son Narciso Anzaldua, and grandson Eric Sandoval of Morenci. Pallbearers will be Albert Anzaldua, Concepcion Aranda III, Fred Anzaldua, Joshua Ramos, Robert Gomez Jr., Whitney Anzaldua, James Martinez, and Marcus Ramos.
