In Tijuana, Mexico, on September 13, 1960, Ramon Gonzalez-Gomez, Sr., and Isabel Gonzalez-
Lara were blessed with a set of twin boys, Ramon, Jr., and Marcus Anthony.
Ramon emigrated with his family at that age of six to Los Angeles County. He graduated from
Roosevelt High School. His beloved grandfather, Bonifacio Gonzalez, founded Birreirria Jalisco
(the first of its kind in the United States, now Birreiria Don Boni) where Ramon went to work at
very a very young age and was one of a select few to be honored to learn Don Boni’s secret
family recipe for birria. After moving to the San Francisco Bay Area where he and Yolanda found
each other, Ray worked in retail, retiring from K-mart as a Department Manager in 2014. While
still at K-Mart, he started his DJ business, Spotlight Entertainment.
Ramon is preceded in death by Marcus Anthony, beloved grandfather Don Boni, and his father
Ramon, Sr.
To cherish his memory, Ramon leaves his wife, Yolanda Marcellia-Gonzalez and the children they
raised: niece Warnisha Smith and nephew Myron Smith of Richmond, California; his mother
Isabel Gonzalez-Lara of Los Angeles, California; five brothers and three sisters, Antonio Gonzalez
(Daisy), Norma Finley (Fred), Emma Rogers (Randy), Lily Benitez (Joel), Arturo Gonzalez (Lisa),
