Ramon Q. Martinez, 93, a longtime resident of Deming passed away peacefully on Tuesday, October 17, 2017 at his home. Visitation will be on Wednesday, October 25, 2017 from 10-11am at The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints. The funeral service will then begin at 11am with Bishop, David Wertz officiating. Concluding services with an interment will be at Mountain View Cemetery. Serving as pallbearers are Rick Baca, Ricky Baca, J.J. Martinez, Andrew Avalos, Sammy Gavaldon and Diego Quintana. Honorary pallbearers are Donnie Martinez, Jeremiah Martinez, Diego Baca, Demarcus Baca, Anastacio Pena, Lorenzo Rubio, Leroy Macias and numerous nephews and friends. Ramon was born on July 24, 1924 in Anthony, NM to Manuel and Camila Martinez and was raised in the Hatch area. He was a hard worker and enjoyed being with family and friends. He also liked to garden and to fix lawnmowers. He also enjoyed going to baseball games and joke around with everyone. He always thought of others first and was generous to family and friends. He was always willing to lend a helping hand when needed. He is survived by one daughter, Debbie Baca and her husband Rick of Deming, NM; one son, Johnny Joe Martinez and his wife Angela of Las Cruces, NM; seven grandchildren, nineteen great grandchildren and one great-great grandchild and numerous nieces and nephews. He is preceded in death by both of his parents; his wife, Cecilia T. Martinez; one son, Donnie T. Martinez; one brother, Jose Q. Martinez and two sisters, Carmen M. Avalos and Jessie M. Gavaldon.
