Ramona Mary MarquardRedding, CA1928 - 2017Ramona M. Marquard was born on August 5th, 1928 in Holdingford, Minn. The middle child of Henry and Petronella Young. After graduating from Elementary School in Aitkin, Minn., the family moved to San Benardino, CA. There she went to St. Bernardine's High School. She met her one and only, Guy R. Marquard, while in school. Upon her graduation and Guy home on leave from the Navy, they were married in 1946. They lived in San Bernardino until 1959 when Guy took a job with Continental Telephone Company in Weaverville, CA. The remained in Weaverville until 1992 then retired to Redding, CA.Through the years Ramona worked as a Teller, Bookkeeper or Clerk. She worked for Bank of America for over twenty years until the bank closed in Weaverville then went on to work for Trinco Lumber Company and Trinity Co. Schools. After moving to Redding she helped count money at St. Joseph Church for many years. She enjoyed her hobbies; reading, playing cards, knitting caps for newborns that were given to hospitals, knitting blankets and afghans for grandkids, wood carvings that are now family treasures and the windchimes in her yard.Ramona is survived by her daughters, Mary Burgess (Jim) of Redding, CA., Lorie Giassullo (Tony) of Weaverville, CA., and Cristina Polston (Craig) of East Auroa, NY., her brother Mel Young of Rancho Mariage, CA., 8 grandkids, 13 great grandkids and 3 great-great grandkids. She was predeceased by husband Guy Marquard, son Daniel Marquard and sister Marcy Young.Ramona passed away on April 7, 2017 at 88 years old from heart failure. Per her request there will be no services. A private family gathering will be at a later date. She was loved beyond words by her family and will be missed always.
