RaNae Nilson Jorgensen, 80, passed away on Oct. 27, 2008, at the Logan Nursing and Rehab Center. She was born on May 7, 1928, in Logan, Utah, to Bessie Pickett and Edgar Nilson. She was raised in Smithfield and attended Summit Elementary, North Cache High, and Utah State University, where she majored in business. She married Ray Ellis Jorgensen on Jan. 27, 1950, in the Logan LDS Temple. She and Ray have lived most of their lives in Smithfield until recently moving to Legacy House in Logan. RaNae was an active member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, in which she served as Primary President, Relief Society President, Temple worker, and visiting teacher. She and Ray also served an LDS Service Mission at the Deseret Industries in Logan, Utah. She enjoyed cooking for her family, especially Sunday roast beef dinners, and taking drives in the canyons to see the flowers and fall leaves with Ray. She is survived by her husband, Ray Jorgensen; daughters, Lynne (Tom) Singleton of Providence, Utah; Ann (Glen) Godfrey of Clarkston, Utah; Bonnie (John) Bair of Anderson Island, Wash.; Carol (Chad) Tillman of Madison, Ala.; and Trudy (Christian) Wilson of Smithfield, Utah; 14 grandchildren; 17 great-grandchildren; and sister, Roberta Geary. She was preceded in death by a grandson, Michael Ray Godfrey. Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. on Thursday, Oct. 30, at the Smithfield 1st LDS Ward Building, 175 S. 100 West. Friends may call from 6 to 8 p.m. Wednesday at Nelson Funeral Home, 85 S. Main, Smithfield, and at the church from 12:30 to 1:30 p.m. on Thursday. Burial will be in the Smithfield Cemetery.
