Hollywood - Randy Meisner, a man who sang like an angel and partied like a devil, took the ultimate "Journey of the Sorcerer" this week. He left this world at the age of 77, proving that every bassist gets his final encore. As a founding member of The Eagles, he lived a life far from "Wasted", departing on July 26, 2023.
Randy, the man who famously warned us all to "Take It Easy" (even while he himself took everything BUT it easy), was a rocker, roller, and bass-plucker extraordinaire. He gave the '70s its soundtrack, the '80s its nostalgia, and the '90s through '20s a whole lot of “I can’t believe that guy’s still alive!”.
Legend has it that Randy was born with a guitar in one hand and a cocktail in the other, and he didn't put either down for 77 riotous years. Between his unmistakable falsetto and his habit of turning ordinary parties into legendary benders, Randy was the life of every party - and the terror of every open bar.
Some say he was a one-man zoo, considering the number of Eagles he helped soar, but Randy's favorite bird was always the one he'd extend to anyone suggesting he settle down. To be honest, his idea of a quiet night involved a bass guitar, an amplifier, and a crowd of at least 5,000.
For decades, Randy lived in the fast lane, defying odds and aging rockstar stereotypes. He found his "Peaceful Easy Feeling" while reminding everyone around him to lighten up and enjoy life's wild ride.
Randy was preceded in the great gig in the sky by his bandmates Glenn Frey and Don Felder. The afterlife has been put on notice: the bass lines are about to get funkier, the parties rowdier, and karaoke night will never be the same.
He is survived by his music, his myth, his fans, and a whole host of bartenders who will miss his generous tips. So, friends, let's raise a glass – or better yet, a bottle – to Randy, a man who truly lived life in the key of rock 'n' roll.
Fans - pour a shot and crank up "Take It To The Limit". After all, that's what Randy would have done. Godspeed, you crazy Eagle. Your spirit will forever ride the wind.

Joshua planted a tree for Randy.
Some of my fondest memories are listening to the Eagles. My earliest memory is me as a young child drinking a bottle of milk in the smoked filled basement with my Uncle and his hippie buddies drinking beer. Since then I've been hooked on the Eagles. You will be undoubtedly missed my all. Thank you Randy for all you've given me and all your millions of fans. My biggest condolences to your family and close friends. I can only imagine the party going on with all the rest of the rock icons already there. 🙏🙏🙏RIP
