Raymond J. Hammerstrom RACINE Raymond J. Hammerstrom,90, passed away on Sunday, June 9, 2013 at Kindred Healthcare, Kenosha. He was a lifelong resident of Racine, born on February 24, 1923, the son of the late, Bruno R. and Malitta (nee: Voss) Hammerstrom. Ray was united in marriage to Doris Ramlow on April 7, 1945 in Kenosha. He was a machinist at Young Radiator for 42 years, retiring in June of 1984. Ray was a member of First Evangelical Lutheran Church. He was a founding and life member of Racine Instinctive Bowman Club, which began in 1952. Ray and his wife both had a love of the outdoors. They enjoyed many years of hunting, fishing, and archery competition both here and in their home away from home in Crivitz. He also enjoyed golfing. Surviving is his son and daughter-in-law, Wayne (Linda Colletti) Hammerstrom of Belleville, daughter, Diane (Paul) Kropp of Reedsburg; three grandchildren, Natira (Chris) Matthews of Redwood City, CA, Jason (Michelle) Kropp of Manteno, IL and Nathan Kropp of Madison, great grandchildren, Tyler, Brandon, Sawyer and Clara . Ray was preceded in death by his wife, Doris on February 23, 2003, grandson, Brian Kropp, brother, Arnold Hammerstrom and sister, Lorraine (Lee) Hansen. Memorial services will be held at Sturino funeral Home on Thursday, June 13, 2013 at 1:30 p.m. There will be a time for family and friends to meet at the funeral home before services from 12:30 p.m. to time of service. Luncheon will follow. Ray will be laid to rest next to his wife at Graceland Cemetery in a private ceremony.
