HAWTHORN WOODS - Raymond Kist was born on January 24, 1961, in Chicago, to Walter and Elfriede (nee Koch) Kist. He died Monday, November 6, 2017, in Edwardsville, Illinois. Ray served in the United States Air Force as a jet engine mechanic at Travis Air Force Base in California. He worked as an Aviation Safety Inspector for the Federal Aviation Administration in Des Plaines. Ray loved animals, especially his dogs Barney, Andy, Petey, Frankie and Bentley. He had a knack for creative cooking and was a loyal Bears Fan. He loved to travel with his family, most recently Disney World and an Alaskan cruise. Raymond is survived by his spouse of 33 years, Gisela (nee Kirschner); children, Johanna Kist and Alexander Kist; mother, Elfriede Kist; brother, Robert Kist; sister-in-law, Heidi (Randy) Woods; nieces, Catherine Kist, Stephanie Kist, Emily Woods, Kaitlyn Woods; and several beloved cousins. He was preceded in death by his father. Visitation Monday, November 13, 2017 from 4:00 pm until 8:00 pm at Glueckert Funeral Home Ltd., 1520 North Arlington Heights Road (4 blocks south of Palatine Road), Arlington Heights, IL 60004. Prayer Service 11:00 am Tuesday, November 14, 2017 at the funeral home. Interment is private.
