Raymond Wishmeyer age 93, passed away on May 21, 2012. He was born on May 30, 1918 in St. Louis, Missouri. In 1936, he joined the
U.S. Navy at the age of 18. He was a chief boatswain mate and promoted to lieutenant in 1946. He retired as a lieutenant commander on June 30, 1957. He had many varied assignments: battleship troop and passenger transports and commanding officer of repair and salvage ships. His last assignment as lieutenant commander was at the Naval and Marine Corp Training Stations at San Mateo and San Jose, California. Declarations, metals, badges, commendations and campaign ribbons were awarded and authorized to him for navy good conduct with 2 stars, China service, American defense with and American campaign. European-African-Middle Eastern-Asiatic-Pacific with 1 star. WW11 Victory, Navy occupation, National Defense, Korean service, United Nations and the Presidential Unit citation. 1957 - 1969 he worked for Litton Engineering Laboratories in Grass Valley, CA. 1969 - 1972 he worked for Litton Engineering Laboratories at Stead and Dayton, Nevada. In 1972 he accepted a position as chief engineer at the Ormsby House Hotel and Casino in Carson City, Nevada built by governor Paul Laxalt. They were winter visitors for nine years and then moved to Yuma permanently. His first wife, Dolores preceded him in death. He is survived by his "darling" wife, Floris Wishmeyer of Yuma, Arizona, he has four children, Kathy Walters from Michigan, Carol Caddy from California, Raymond Wishmeyer Jr. from Florida and Dana Myatt from Arizona. He has six grandchildren and four great grandchildren.
