FINNELL Mrs. Readie Gumm, 91, passed away Friday, February 9, 2017. She was born on January 11, 1926 in Lexington, KY to the late Laura Gardner and Steve Gumm. Besides her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband of 65 years, Robert "Wig" Finnell, Jr.; brothers John Gumm and Owen Gumm; sister, Jean Creekmore; and great grandson Cameron Wells. Readie is survived by daughters Laura (Doug) Patrick, Brenda (Jim) Copenhaver, and Melody Gay (Steve) Maleski; grandchildren Rob (Teresa) Wells, Ben (Natalia) McDaniel, Marty (Kim) Wells, Joy Rodriguez, Robert Grube and Brittany (Alan) Sonntag; great grandchildren Parker, Grace, Clayton and Tyler Wells, Alex and Lenex Read Rodriguez and Matthew McDaniel; and other loved ones. Due to her faith and love of the Lord, we are comforted that she now resides in Heaven with her beloved husband. They were members of Grace Baptist Church in Lexington, KY for many years. Readie was a stay-at-home Mom, school volunteer, great cook, artistically talented and an avid golfer. She and Wig belonged to Picadone and Spring Valley Golf Courses. A competitive spirit and drive to excel lead her to compete in many golf tournaments where she often won. For love of the game, this spunky lady played golf until failing eyesight caused her to quit at 82 years old. Visitation will be at Kerr Brothers Funeral Home Main St. on Monday, February 13, 2017 starting at 10am. Funeral service by Brother Terrance Freeman will follow at noon. In lieu of flowers, Memorial Donations may be made to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105.
