Reda B. Robinson, age 83, of Smith Road, Fredericktown, passed away on Wednesday, November 26, 2014 at the Laurels of Mount Vernon. She was born on July 5, 1931 in Ashland County the daughter of Ralph and Martha (Wolf) Smithhisler. Reda worked as a cook for the Hannah Browning Home of Mount Vernon and helped her beloved husband Alva take care of the family farm where she was affectionately known as the "Farm Cook." Reda loved to make pies and desserts for family and friends for all occasions. She was a member of the North Liberty United Methodist Church, Knox County Farm Bureau, Pike Township Zoning Board and served as a volunteer for over 30 years for the Pike Township voting polls.
She is survived by her sons, Dan (Tammy) Robinson and Dean (Sharon) Robinson both of Fredericktown; four grandchildren, Eugene Robinson, Nathan (Courtney) Robinson, Gordon (Julia) Robinson and Ryan (Breann) Robinson; five great grandchildren, Austin, Gage, Madilyn, Dezmend and Kayleen; a brother, Dale Smithhisler of Butler and a sister-in-law, Jeannine Smithhisler of Mount Vernon.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Alva Robinson; a grandson, Timothy J.C. Barnes; three brothers, Carl Smithhisler, Paul Smithhisler and Earl Smithhisler.
Friends called on Friday at the Dowds-Snyder Funeral Home, 201 Newark Road, Mount Vernon, Ohio 43050 where a funeral service was held on Saturday. Pastor Ken Kinley officiated. Burial followed in Mount Vernon Memorial Gardens.
Memorial contributions in Reda's name may be made to the North Liberty United Methodist Church or the Timothy J.C. Barnes Scholarship fund at any First Knox National Bank branch.
