Rebecca "Becca" Walker, was born to Virginia and Vernon Walker on September 7, 1970 in Los Angeles, California. She was the eldest of two children the other being her brother Nathan. She grew up in Pasadena, CA., attended her neighborhood schools, and graduated from John Marshall High School in Pasadena, CA. in June of 1988. From there she worked in various fields of employment, attended school in the evenings at Pasadena City College, and raised her son, Jonathan. She went on to earn a Bachelor of Arts in Child Development from California State University, Los Angeles in 1999, her first Master of Arts in Education from Claremont College in 2000, and her second Master of Arts in Educational Administration from California State University, Los Angeles in 2005. She loved the little ones and began her teaching career with the San Bernardino Unified School District in 2005 where she has taught the last sixteen years. She always greeted her kids with "Hello My Friends" with her large welcoming and warm smile. The infectious warm and welcoming smile made everyone around her comfortable. She always enjoyed spending time with her family, friends, traveling, adventures, book club group, bible study group, co-workers, dancing, and so much more. She was "LIFE."
Rebecca is survived by her mother, Virginia Beltre Walker, her father Vernon Cecil Walker, her brother Nathan Vernon Walker, her son Jonathan Henry Walker, her granddaughter Sion Walker and two nieces, Jasmine and Janelle Walker. Along with aunts, uncles, cousins and a host of friends.

Dearest Rebecca,
All of us from Sistah Circle Bookclub will truly miss your smile, your kindness, your jokes, and awesome discussions during our many bookclub meetings. Many of us have grown to develop great friendships, travel buddies, and Sisterhood through books with you. We will never forget you Rebecca. I think our most memorable moment with you was when you said "false negative". Man we all laughed so hard we cried and still laugh today when we think of it. I hope your in heaven laughing and cracking jokes. Your spirit will be missed. Until we meet again my friend. We love you and will never forget you!

Our dear Rebecca (Becca) Walker! On behalf of the family that she had with us at the Monrovia Post Office, we send our deepest condolences. What a loss of such a beautiful spirit! Becca worked with us from August 7, 1993 until 1999: six years! It was a time, when the Monrovia Post Office was (and still is) dominated by male carriers. Back in 1993 when Becca began with us, out of 47 carriers, only seven were female carriers, and Becca was the ONLY Afro/American carrier. It was tough work, but she was tough. She overcame the many obstacles and was always a pleasure to work with. She had this smile that could fill a room. Had she stayed working with us, she would have been the FIRST Afro/American FEMALE CARRIER to retire from the Monrovia Post Office. So when you think of it, Becca WAS definitely a trailblazer breaking boundaries of race and gender that had not been broken before. We were so happy when she was able to leave us and get a job where she could truly blossom as an educator! The attached pictures of her, are taken from 1995 though 2003 [when she would sometimes come back and celebrate special occasions with us.] God bless our dear sister and all of her family that mourn her loss. The one consolation we have is, THERE IS life after death, and we shall see her again!

(I would like to point out, that our FIRST Afro/American CLERK, Robin Gadbury retired just this week. As of this date, there still has not been a FEMALE Afro/American CARRIER from the Monrovia Post Office to retire.)

Hi Rebecca. I'm going to miss you so much. My partner teacher. My friend. Your bright smile as you walked in our door every morning. Your laughter. I smile when I think of the times I would poke you in our MOU meetings because you fell asleep and started snoring. You would always wake with a little laugh and smile at me.
Rebecca, you were one of my biggest champions for whatever I wanted to try. Whatever crazy idea I came up with, you were 100% for me to try it (or would talk some sense into me!).
You loved Jon more fiercely than anyone I know, were absolutely in love with Sion, and your eyes lit up when you spoke of James.
Heaven has gained an amazing teacher, a true friend, and a pure soul.
I love you, and I'll miss you so much.❤️
