Rebekah Fame Smith, dearly loved aunt and sister, died on Monday, June 24 of kidney failure at the age of 70. Her niece and great-niece were by her side.Rebekah was born on Feb. 1, 1943 in Muskogee, Okla., to Bryce Smith and Eula Waldron Smith. She was a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. Becky lived in Oklahoma, Arkansas, Virginia, California, Arizona, Missouri, and several other states before she settled in Utah in 1975. Becky worked at Schreiber Foods Inc. for 34 years as a "lab lady" until she retired in 2010.Becky never married and didn't have children of her own, but she was like a mother to her niece Larisa Santos and grandmother to her great nephew, Justin Santos and great-nieces Samantha Baker and Cadence Baker. Becky was more than an aunt to all of her extended family. She took kids to music and dance lessons, doctor's appointments and attended performances. She had more kids than most, and she cared for and loved them. Becky is preceded by her mother, father and a brother, Bryce Jr.She is survived by her siblings: Minerva (Ray) Harris of Providence, Grover (Vicky) Smith of Hyrum, Pat (Jane) Smith of Virginia, David (Sandra) Smith of Oklahoma, and Halaj Smith of Colorado. She also leaves behind 17 nieces and nephews, 58 great-nieces and nephews and 18 great-great-nieces and nephews.A viewing will be held at Cobblestone 1st ward in Providence from 10 to 11:30 a.m. Saturday, June 29 with services to follow at noon. In lieu of flowers, donations to assist with funeral expenses will be accepted at Chase Bank in care of Larisa Santos. Interment will be at the Smithfield Cemetery. Arrangements are under the direction SereniCare Funeral Home in Providence.
