Tadano, Rena Alice Rena Alice Tadano 93, of Phoenix passed away on November 4, 2016 at home with her family by her side. She was born on October 1, 1923 in Orange, TX (weighing only 2lbs 1oz) to Kumazo and Asao Tanamachi. Rena was one of 13 children. She has lived in Arizona for over 65 years. She, her husband George along with other family members, were long time strawberry farmers as well as having owned and operated Welcome Mart grocery store in the west valley for over 35 years. Rena was a sports fanatic! She loved the Phx Suns & Phx Mercury basketball teams. She loved ice cream and sweets & would often sneak it even though she was diabetic. Rena lived life with dignity and grace. She was a quiet person yet had an amazingly strong fortitude. She never wanted to be a burden or imposition to anyone. She was Bachan (Japanese for grandma) to her family and extended family. She was deeply loved & will be greatly missed. She is preceded in death by her husband George, son Ronnie, daughter in law Virginia and all but one of her siblings. She is survived by her children; Charles (Tamara) Tadano, and Peggy (Bob) Hewitt, grandchildren; Jennifer (Roy) Brown, Julie (Brian) Read, Mike Tadano, Karen Leilani (Max) Frye, Peter (Ozzy) Aki, Kristal Tadano, James Tadano, Kendall Tadano, Olivia (Sterling) Williams, 14 great grandchildren and 2 great-great grandchildren. A memorial service will be held on Tuesday, November 15, 2016, 1:00pm at Hansen Desert Hills Mortuary 6500 E. Bell Rd. Scottsdale, AZ. Memorial contributions can be made in her memory to at
