Reynold "Rey" M. AndersonMarch 19, 2017Reynold "Rey" M. Anderson was born on January 11, 1931 to his parents Z. Albin E. and Esther (Wahlstrand) Anderson in Minneapolis, MN. He passed away suddenly but peacefully on March 19, 2017 in Fort Myers, FL at the age of 86 with his family at his side.Rey is survived by his loving wife Betty (Clay) Anderson, to whom he was married for 63 years; children Debby (John Goding), Rey Jr., Susan and Heidi (David Hyman); grandchildren Erin, Elizabeth, Catherine (Matias Rotsche), Laura (Mark Smetak), Torrey, Luke and Julia; great grandchildren Preston and Katie; and sister-in-law Joni Finkenbinder.Rey delighted in his faith and family and was generous in his provision of love, resources and time. He especially enjoyed helping his children establish their homes and was always an enthusiastic participant in their many home projects.Rey was a proud alumnus of Minnehaha Academy (1948) and the University of Minnesota (1954). Upon receiving his bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering, he served in the US Army Corps of Engineers as a First Lieutenant (1954-1956) at Fort Belvoir, VA, where he taught construction techniques for bridges, roads and airfields. Rey then joined his father, and together they built numerous residences in South Minneapolis. Being action-oriented, with indelible entrepreneurial spirit, he expanded and diversified the family business into several commercial construction and real estate development endeavors.As a board member and volunteer for community, faith, educational, and charitable organizations, he set out to get things done; planning, organizing and implementing projects with robust enthusiasm and inspiration.Rey moved through life with purpose and grace, endearing him to those who had the privilege of knowing him. His longstanding relationships with family, friends, and business associates are testament to his integrity, competence and warmth. He will be deeply missed by his children and wife, Betty, whom he adored. They are comforted in knowing that one day they will see him again with the Lord in Paradise.A Memorial Service will be held at The Village Church at Shell Point Retirement Community on April, 22, 2017 at 1:15 pm. Rey will be laid to rest at Fort Snelling National Cemetery, Minneapolis, MN on June 2, 2017 at 2:00 pm.
