Richard "Richie" E. Brown, beloved brother, uncle, and friend, passed away July 31, 2022, at the age of 79 at Hackensack University Hospital amongst family. A resident of Secaucus, Richie was born and lived almost all of his life in Jersey City. He graduated from Ferris High School and worked for many years as a machinist for Bethlehem Steel before retiring. Richie loved fishing and had a boat in Liberty Marina for years with his brother-in-law, Jack Cassidy. They spent many warm sunny days fishing with family and friends. Richie was an excellent bowler, winning numerous trophies over the years and enjoying time with teammates in his league. Richie was an avid gardener and an adeptly proficient handyman - often fixing plumbing, electrical, and other household issues for his beloved family members. He was strong, independent and reliable. Richie was the type of person you could always turn to for sound advice and a helping hand. It is with profound sadness that we say goodbye to Richie, but with gratitude for having had him in our lives. He will always be remembered and held in our hearts. Richie was the son of the late William "Sonny" Brown and Margaret (nee Geraghty) Brown and the grandson of the late Nora (nee Veale, native of Co. Waterford, Ireland) and John Geraghty. Richie was predeceased by his sisters, Barbara Ann Brown, Elaine Rowan and Eileen Cassidy, his brothers, Robert Brown, John Brown and Harold Brown and his nephew Robert Svercauski. He is survived by his brother William Jr. Brown, niece Grace Byrd and her husband Ian, niece Jacquelyn Svercauski, and nephew Ronald Cassidy and his wife Renee. Great uncle of Robyn and Cassidy Svercauski and Emile and Remy Byrd. Brother-in-law of Jack Cassidy and Reem Brown. Step Grands Takeema & Jasmine Murray .Visitation will be at McLaughlin Funeral Home, 625 Pavonia Ave., Jersey City on Wednesday August 3, 2022 from 3-7 PM. The Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at Saint John the Baptist R.C. Church on Thursday morning at 10 AM. Interment to follow at Holy Cross Cemetery, North Arlington
