Richard Alan UrbanskiVirginia Beach, VARichard Alan Urbanski, a Virginia Beach business owner and devoted husband and father, passed away Sunday, Aug. 27, 2017, after a long battle with heart disease. He was born on July 4th in Meriden, Conn., and attended the local Francis T. Maloney High School. He received his chemical engineering degree and an MBA from Lowell Technological Institute, now UMass Lowell. Early in his career as a chemical engineer and salesperson, he lived in Leominster, Mass. In 1984, his career led to a move to Virginia Beach where he delighted in being close to the ocean. By 1997, he became co-owner of Air-Tite Products Co, Inc. in Virginia Beach. He loved traveling the world, and had a curious mind, always hungry to learn. Visiting museums was one of his favorite pastimes. Friends loved his big-hearted laugh. For the past 15 years, he was a part-time resident of Bonita Springs, Fla. He was a long-time member of Broad Bay Country Club in Virginia Beach, Va., and Highland Woods Country Club in Bonita Springs, Fla.Richard was preceded in death by his parents Alphonse and Helen Urbanski and his brother Raymond Urbanski. The loves of his life include his wife of 47 years, Mary Corcoran Urbanski; two daughters, Kara Arundel and her husband Tom of Washington, D.C., and Beth White and her husband Caleb of Naples, Fla.; three grandsons, Nathan and Jack Arundel and Liam White; a brother, Alan Urbanski; and a host of nieces, nephews, and relatives from the Urbanski and Corcoran families; and lots of life-long friends.A service will be held Church of the Holy Family Catholic Church at 1279 N. Great Neck Road, Virginia Beach, Va., on Wednesday, Sept. 6, at 10 a.m. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests that expressions of sympathy be in the form of contributions to student scholarships at UMass Lowell.
