Richard ""Dick"" Arthur McClean, age 72, of East Tawas and formerly of Montrose, Colo. died on Wednesday, Oct. 2, 2013 at his home. He was born on March 7, 1941 in Lansing to the late Patrick and Ruth McClean (nee Carpenter). After graduating high school, Dick was an electrician on the U.S.S. Little Rock while serving in the United States Navy. He later worked as a self employed tree cutter until retiring in October of 2006. Dick was a police and rescue diver and his favorite hobbies included fishing and hunting. He was a member of the NRA and the North American Fishing Club. Dick is survived by his wife, Karon, whom he married on Oct. 31, 1975 in Montrose, Colo.; his six children, Jeffrey McClean of Saginaw, of Saginaw, Patrick (Dawn) McClean of Saginaw, Cheryl (David) Watson of Leslie, Gail (Todd) Smith of Canon City, Colo., Michael (Valerie) Hartzel of Montrose, Colo. and Douglas Hartzel of Montrose, Colo.; brother, Victor McClean of Cedar; a sister, Ellen Smith of East Tawas; 17 grandchildren and 12 great-grandchildren. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by brother, James McClean; three sisters, Frances Vogel, Pauline Schram and Jeanette Sandstrom; infant daughter, Gail Marie McCleanand; and a granddaughter, Candy Gutierez. A memorial service will be held on Tuesday, Oct. 8 at 11 a.m. at Buresh Funeral Home in Tawas City with Rev. Rob Nordin officiating.
