Richard C. "Dick" Rose, Sr., age 74, of Satsuma, Florida, passed away Tuesday, Nov. 22, 2016, after an unfortunate accident. Mr. Rose was born on July 25, 1942, in Theresa, New York, the son of the late Arthur and Frances Rose. He graduated in 1959 from Indian River High School, and then enlisted in the
United States Air Force where he served until 1966. Dick was then employed as a deputy sheriff at the Jefferson County Sheriff's Office; New York Telephone Company; and later opened his own radio and television repair business and a bowling alley/restaurant in upstate New York. After moving to Florida in the early 1970s, he was employed by Bell South Telephone; Kings Crown Ford and Garber Pontiac auto dealerships. Most recently, Dick was co-owner/operator of Mema's Restaurant in Satsuma, with his wife, Kerri. Dick was well known and loved in his local community and was an esteemed member of Lake Lodge #72 Masonic Lodge, the Putnam County Shrine Club, the Loyal Order of the Moose #184 Palatka, Florida, and was president of the Satsuma Fire Department. He is survived by his wife, Kerri Rose, and stepson, Derek Harthcock; and by his children: daughter, Karen Patricia Winant (husband Brian Daly) and her children, Morgane, Maxx and Mitch van Waeyenberghe; daughter, Lori Rose Savoie (husband Jacques "Jacky") and her children, Nicholas Bass (his children, Nicholas, Wesley and Wyatt Bass); and Erica Bass (her children Kylie Roselynn, Caiden and Carter); son, Richard Charles Rose, Jr. (wife Cindy) and his children, Madison and Connor Rose; son, Lyman Gregory Rose (wife Elizabeth); son, Ashley Price Rose (wife Kelly) and their children, Rachel and Braxdon Rose; and son, Denver Rose (wife Mary). Dick will be dearly missed by all who knew him. A memorial tribute will be held at 1 p.m. on Saturday, Dec. 10, at Johnson-Overturf Chapel, 307 S. Palm Avenue, Palatka, FL 32177.
