Richard D. Snow, 87, died Monday, Jan. 30, 2017, at the CRVNA Hospice House. He was born on April 20, 1929, in Arlington Mass., son of the late Elmer and Ida (Stevens) Snow. He was a graduate of Concord High School class of 1947, and years later received his associates degree in Business from NHTI in 1976.Richard was a Gunnery Sgt. in the
United States Marine Corps. Serving in both the
Vietnam war and the
Korean War during his 20 years of service to his Country. Earning the Navy Presidential Unit Citation, Navy Unit Commendation, Good Conduct Medal, National Defense Service Medal, Korean Service Medal, Vietnam Service Medal, Korean Presidential Unit Citation, Vietnam Presidential Unit Medal, United Nations Service Medal(Korea), United Nations Service Medal(Vietnam), Republic of Vietnam Campaign Medal, Korean Service Medal, and in 2012 the Korean Peace Medal.He also was the Director of Maintenance and Transportation for the Concord School District for 10 years. He was member and past commander of American Legion Post 21 in Concord, serving as Genera Manager for the Post's baseball team for several years. He was also a member of the
VFW. He enjoyed sharing his passion to hunt and fish with his children and grandchildren. He especially loved spending time with his family and attending their activities and sporting events. He also enjoyed his casino trips with Bill McDonald. He took great pride in being a twelfth generation Direct Descendant of the Mayflower.He was predeceased by his wife, Gertrude who died in 2007.He is survived by three daughters, Jody Bugbee and her husband, Dave, Jennifer McCoo and her husband, Tom and Mary Giroux and her husband, Jim; five sons, Jack Snow and his wife, Luanne, Rick Snow, Artie Snow and his wife, Joanne, Jamie Snow and his wife, Mikki and Thomas Snow and his wife, Linda; 17 grandchildren, Scott, Lindsay, Kevin, Kelly, Tyler, Sarah, Arthur, Alexis, J.P., Janine, Anna, Jolyn, Marissa, Amanda, Tom, Carly and Chad; eight great-grandchildren, Scottie, Kalli, Greta, Simon, Isaac, Hunter, Faith and Corbin; one brother, Elmer Snow; and one sister, Marylou Meek.Visiting hours will be held on Monday, Feb. 6 from 5 to 7 p.m. at the Waters Funeral Home, 50 South Main St., Concord.Funeral services with full military honors will be held on Tuesday, Feb. 7 at 11 a.m. in the chapel of the NH State
Veterans Cemetery, Route 3, Boscawen.In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Concord Regional Visiting Nurses Association Hospice House.
