Richard Dane "Rich, Dick" Meyer
SEDALIA — Richard Dane "Rich, Dick" Meyer, 70, of Sedalia, MO, passed away Thursday, October 12, 2017 at Harry S. Truman Memorial Veterans' Hospital in Columbia, MO, surrounded by his family. He was born on September 16, 1947 in Fayette, Missouri, the son of Richard D. Meyer and Norma L. Meyer Castleman, who preceded him in death.
Richard served his country honorably in the United States Marine Corps during the Vietnam War. He was a member of the Sedalia Shrine Club, Ararat Shrine of Kansas City, East Lincoln Masonic Lodge #210, Lincoln, NE, and Sedalia VFW Post #2591. He was an avid outdoorsman who enjoyed hunting and fishing.
He is survived by a son, David Meyer; three daughters, Liza Meyer, Barbara Russ, and Dana Meyer; a step son, Mitch Corder; a sister, Joyce Nelson (Butch); three half sisters, Diane Meyer (Robert), Janis Lane, and Sue Meyer (Mike); two grandsons, Titan Russ and Avery Greenslade; nieces and nephew's.
He was preceded in death by a brother, Tracy Castleman.
A celebration of life service and burial will be held at 3:00 p.m. Thursday, October 19, 2017 at the Missouri Veterans Cemetery in Higginsville, MO. with full military honors conducted by VFW Post #2591 and United States Marine Corps.
Memorial contributions may be made to the Sedalia Shrine Club, Masonic Granite Lodge #272 AF&AM or Sedalia VFW Post #2591 in care of Rea Funeral Chapel.
