Richard D. Braxton, 73, of Palm Beach, Florida passed away on December 25, 2023.
He was born on June 1, 1950 to Francis and Agnes Braxton in Mount Vernon, Ohio. He was a Veteran of the United States Air-Force and retired from American National Can Company in Mount Vernon, Ohio.
In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by a son; Mark Braxton and his sisters; Mary Baker, Phyllis Arnold, Loretta Durbin and Ethel Braxton. Richard is survived by his loving family; wife of 51 years Terry Braxton of Palm Beach, Florida; daughter, Kimberly (Joey Angeletti) Schnider of Mount Vernon, Ohio; son, David (Jaharis Ogando) Braxton of Charlotte, North Carolina; sister, Ruth Blanchard of Mount Vernon, Ohio. He is also survived by granddaughters, Sara (Adam) Smith of Wyomissing, Pennsylvania, Ashley (Caleb) Syler of Mount Vernon, Ohio; great-granddaughter, Chloe Smith and great-grandsons, Leo Smith, Lukas Syler.
Richard's favorite pastimes included fishing, woodworking and tinkering in his shop. His love for travel began when his children were young and spent summer vacations camping with Terry and his family and friends. He and Terry spent their early retirement years traveling all around the US with friends and family before they settled in Palm Beach, Florida in their later years. He greatly enjoyed spending time with his grandchildren as they grew.
He is a member of St. Frances Xavier Cabrini Catholic Church in Palm Beach, Florida. Richard will be laid to rest at Mt. Vernon Memorial Gardens following a funeral mass on December 29th at 10:00 am with calling hours at 9:00 am. The funeral mass and calling hours will be held at St. Vincent de Paul Catholic Church in Mt. Vernon, Ohio.
